The age difference, in years, between Tom Watson, the oldest competitor at the Open and amateur Matt Fitzpatrick, who was the youngest. Five-time Open champion Watson, who turns 64 in September, failed to make the cut, while 18-year-old Fitzpatrick not only made the weekend action, he also collected the Silver Medal for being low amateur.
