HONG KONG, 8 Jul 2015, (HK Golfer News Wire) - Stewart and Tang, both former regulars on the Asian Tour, tied on a two-day total of 141 at Discovery Bay Golf Club before Stewart prevailed in sudden death.
Cheng Ka-yiu finished a shot out of the play-off in solo third place.
Stewart's win gave him a season's haul of 51,410 points, nearly 12,000 points ahead of Tang, who finished in second place. Rising prospect Mickey Chan, who performed so admirably when in contention at the Ageas HKPGA Championship, the HKPGA's flagship event, earlier in the year, placed third.
In the Ladies' division, amateur Estee Vivian Leung carded rounds of 76 and 75 to win the event by two shots from first-round leader Wong Lai. Vivian's sister, Emily Vickie, finished third, a further three strokes adrift.
With amateurs unable to earn HKPGA Order of Merit points, Wong's second place finish earned her the full 15,850 points, which proved decisive in her Order of Merit battle with Vickie Ho. Wong finished with a season total of 47,550, a shade over 5,000 points ahead of the second-placed Ho.
