HK's Williams Qualifies for the US Seniors Open - Again!

57-year-old amateur shoots 70 at sectional qualifier in Los Angeles to book his place in his second major championship.

“I’m excited to have made it again,” said Williams

HONG KONG, 4 June 2015 (HK Golfer News Wire) - Hong Kong Golf Club member Doug Williams will make his second consecutive appearance at the US Seniors Open later this month after winning a sectional qualifier in Los Angeles.

The tournament, one of senior golf’s major championships, will be staged 25-28 June at Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento, California, and the 57-year-old amateur will be looking to better his performance in 2014 when, playing with brand-new clubs after his equipment went missing on a flight from Honolulu, he finished near the bottom of the leader board.

“I’m excited to have made it again,” said Williams, who carded a solid 70 at the Crystalaire Country Club to earn his place in the field. “But this time I’m going to drive there to make sure no airline loses my clubs and shoes.”

Colin Montgomerie is the reigning US Seniors Open champion.
