Wu Wins Well in Macau
Hong Kong's Winston Wu conquered a breezy Macau Golf & Country Club – and a strong field – to record his first Macau Amateur Open title in mid December.
Wu (pictured), a member of the Hong Kong international squad, fired rounds of 78 and 73 for a two-day total of 151 and a three-shot margin of victory over second-placed Johvanie Abano. Tang Kei-hin and Medel Taipan shared third place, five behind Wu, over a course that was playing difficult because of high winds and firm, unreceptive greens.
There was more Hong Kong success in the women's equivalent event, which was played at the end of November. Sandy Hui won the overall title, with a score of 157, while ever-improving junior Emily Vickie Leung placed second a further shot back on 158.–AJ
