PALEMBANG, October 16, 2011 (AFP) - Thailand's Wisut Artjanawat strolled to a five-stroke victory in the Palembang Musi Championship in Indonesia on Sunday.
The overnight leader proved to be uncatchable as he fired a bogey-free six-under-par 66 to finish with an impressive aggregate of 17-under-par 271 at Palembang Golf Club.
Malaysia's Nicholas Fung took second place after shooting a 69 while a stroke further back were Jay Bayron from the Philippines and Thailand's Supravee Phatam
Bayron stormed through with a 64 while Supravee returned 67.
Wisut's third victory on the ASEAN PGA Tour and the winner's cheque move him up to third on the Order of Merit and put him in prime position to qualify for the $6 million Barclays Singapore Open.
"I felt relaxed and just focused on what I had to do and nothing else. This win puts me on track to be able to work towards playing like this in the big events in the region. I am really happy," said Wisut.
Playing partner Fung tried valiantly to catch Wisut and was two shots behind at the turn.
However it was not to be and a bogey on the final hole saw him slip further behind.
