HOUSTON, Texas, March 31, 2012 (AFP) - American Jeff Maggert fired his second consecutive six-under 66 to take a one-shot lead after the second round of the rain-hit PGA Tour's Houston Open on Saturday.
Maggert, who reached a 12-under 132 total, finished the final eight holes of his second round on Saturday. A thunderstorm on Thursday disrupted the schedule forcing organizers to play catch up by adjusting the tee times in the $6 million tournament.
The 48-year-old Maggert is appearing in the Houston Open for the 24th time and is chasing his first win here.
England's Brian Davis and Louis Oosthuizen of South Africa were the leaders at 11 under par when play was halted because of darkness on Friday. James Driscoll joined them in a tie for second after shooting 66 Saturday morning.
Defending champion Phil Mickelson finished his second round on Friday and was in the group at nine under. Mickelson shot a two-under 70 in the second round.
First-round co-leaders Angel Cabrera (70) and Carl Pettersson (70) were also at 9 under after completing their second rounds on Saturday.
