TAIPEI, October 25, 2013 (AFP) - The Norwegian dominated on day two at the $2 million event on seven-under-par 137, while South Korean Yoo Sun-Young shot a second-under-par 142 to tie with Spain's Carlota Ciganda.

Pettersen hit a hole-in-one, the third of her career, at the second hole, despite what she called a "really tough day" against powerful winds.

"I called the shot, hit it exactly how I wanted and was fortunate enough that I had a good break. Very good shot. It's nice to get a hole in one when you actually call the shot in advance and then pull the trigger," Pettersen said after her round at the Sunrise Golf & Country Club in northern Taoyuan county.

"The wind and the conditions test every aspect of the game," she said. "It's a mental test out there but it's a fun challenge. I've been playing really solid golf, and I'm excited to be where I'm at after two days."

The 32-year-old has strung together nine top-10 finishes in her past 10 LPGA events, including back-to-back victories at the Safeway Classic and the Evian Championship.

She is closing in on world number one Park In-Bee, who finished a disappointing 28th at last week's KEB-HanaBank Championship in South Korea and is not playing in Taiwan this week.

Taiwanese star Tseng Yani, who was playing on the course where she grew up learning the game, recorded a disappointing ten-over-par 154.

The 24-year-old, who has won 15 career LPGA titles, slumped to 62nd from 47th on Thursday.

World number six Choi Na-Yeon and Taiwan's Candie Kung were among five players who were in 13th for two-over-par 146, while world number nine Catriona Matthew trailed in 18th for three-over-par 147.

A total of 78 players are competing in the four-day event, which has a top prize of $300,000.
