ST ANDREWS, August 4, 2013 (AFP) - Neumann's other three picks for the 13th Solheim Cup, which is being played at Colorado Golf Club from August 16-18, were Caroline Hedwall, Giulia Sergas and Jodi Ewart Shadoff.
Europe won the Cup in Ireland two years ago but have never won in the US.
The eight qualifiers were Suzann Pettersen, Carlota Ciganda, Catriona Matthew, Caroline Masson -- all from the Ladies' European Tour (LET) Solheim rankings -- and Beatriz Recari, Ana Nordqvist, Karine Icher and Azahara Munoz from the world rankings.
But the selection marked the end of an era. For the first time in the event's history England's Laura Davies has missed out.
"She knew she hadn't played well enough but she wished me and the team all the best," said Neumann.
Hull was a member of last year's winning Great Britain and Ireland's Curtis Cup team that defeated the USA at Nairn in Scotland and she played under Neumann at the Junior Solheim Cup team two years ago.
As an LET rookie, she has had five runner-up places this season.
"It was great having Liselotte as captain for the Junior Solheim Cup and it is so cool to be picked," said the teenager.
Pettersen and Matthew are the most experienced members of the team -- this will be the seventh Solheim for both. The team has six rookies -- Hull, Ewart Shadoff, Masson, Recari, Sergas and Ciganda.
USA captain Meg Mallon named Michelle Wie and rookie Gerina Piller as her two wild cards.
"I have an incredibly strong team and we'll be going all out to get the Cup back," said Mallon.
The qualifiers for the team were the new Women's British Open champion, Stacy Lewis, Paula Creamer, Cristie Kerr, Angela Stanford, Brittany Lincicome, Lexi Thompson, Jessica Korda and Brittany Lang from the US Solheim Cup rankings and Lizette Salas and Morgan Pressel from the world rankings.
Thompson, at 18, is the youngest member of the squad and the other rookies are Korda, Piller and Salas.
Wie is facing her third Solheim.
"She has played so well in the matches and I totally believe in Michelle Wie. It was a no brainer picking her," said Mallon.
