HONG KONG, 7 Oct 2015 (HK Golfer Newswire) - In glorious sunshine, the 2010 winner Roy "Clinical" Kinnear took the fabled trophy for a second time, with a fine 39 points (and despite leaving another 5 or 6 points out on the course).
Thanks to a flawless driving performance, the legendary Kinnear finger was seen pointing skyward in triumph as the results were tallied.
As well as the trophy, Roy was presented with a pair of engraved crystal glasses (sponsored by HK Golfer) and proceeded to put the quaich to it's traditional use, as a two handled bowl for sipping whisky.
A late surge by Charles McLaughlin led to a tally of 38 points, but it wasn't enough to catch the canny Elginian. Settling for runner-up position (for the third time), Charles was left considering other uses for the powerful cordless drill (sponsored by TFI Industries) which he received as a result.
The team competition was fittingly won by the triumvirate of past winner Fiona Donnelly, Jack Cumming and David Law, as the prize of a magnum of Champagne Deutz was donated by Jack himself on behalf of Montrose Fine Wines. The bottle was soon dispatched with a toast being raised to the recently departed Jock Mackie.
TFI Industries were again the sponsors of two fine Hoovers which went to Jamie Mills and Terry Howells for being Nearest-the-pin on holes 4 and 17.
Finally, the coveted award for "Keenest Golfer" went to Bobby Tsang, whio received a much-needed box of HK Golfer golf balls, as well as a complimentary golf lesson in Central, courtesy of HK Golfer and HKPGA pro Nathan Goulding.
With this being the first staging of the event since Jock's untimely passing, the prizes were presented by past-Chieftian Alan McTaggart, and Charles McLaughlin said a few words about Mr Mackie's astonishing life and career. As Jock would have wished, this was done in an appropriately light-hearted way, and several glasses were raised thereafter.
In what has become a tradition, several hearty souls stayed on for a dinner under the stars, and enjoyed some fine cigars courtesy of past wimmer Kirk "Can't Be" Beaton.
"Jock's Pot" is an annual event organised by the St Andrews Society of Hong Kong, and guests are very welcome. For more details, contact us at info@hkgolfer.com.
