KUALA LUMPUR, March 24, 2014 (HK Golfer News Wire) - The popular Spaniard is excited by the week ahead as he prepares to lead his ten-man team to victory.
"It’s great to be here, everything looks in good shape at the golf club and I am really looking forward to the week. My mind is focused on winning the first edition of the EurAsia Cup,” said Jiménez.
With his team arriving in Kuala Lumpur over the next 24 hours, the 20-time European Tour champion is looking forward to pitting his wits against Thongchai, the three-time Asian Tour Order of Merit holder.
"It’s going to be a week of exciting competition with two great teams going head to head," said Jiménez. "My team is in good shape and I know Thongchai is happy with his too."
The laid back 50 year old will approach his captaincy in typically relaxed Jiménez style, but behind the enigmatic smile will be a burning desire to succeed.
He said: "For now I am trying to make sure they have everything they need to perform to their best. I am going to be a very relaxed captain; they all know how to play their game so I will not interfere too much with each player’s preparations.
"I will just be helping everyone stay calm and to try and help my team enjoy the week as much as possible. In my experience golfers tend to play their best when they are in a good frame of mind."
