Tiffany Chan Tsz-ching made it three wins in a row at the Hong Kong Ladies Close Amateur Championship with an accomplished final-round performance at Fanling yesterday.
Chan, 18, who had started the day two shots behind overnight leader Michelle Cheung Wing-yee, fired a one-under 71 over the New Course for a three-round total of 219 (three-over-par). The long-hitting Cheung, 16, battled back after a poor start to finish two back on 221 following a 75, while Mimi Ho Miu-yee further underlined the strength of junior golf in Hong Kong by placing third.
"It wasn't easy today at all - I knew that Michelle and Mimi were playing well - so it feels great to have come through and win," said Chan, who will be heading to the United States in late summer to attend the renowned Arizona State University on a golf scholarship. "This will likely be the last time I play in the Close for a while, which makes it all he more important."
