Matthew Cheung named academic all-district honoree

Matthew Cheung of Oklahoma City University has been named a CoSIDA academic all-district honoree for the second year in a row.

OKLAHOMA CITY, 24 May 2016, (HK Golfer News Wire) - Cheung, a junior golfer from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, made the men's at-large all-District 4 team. Cheung boasts of a 3.90 cumulative grade-point average studying exercise science.

This season, Cheung has posted a 73.26 stroke average in 23 rounds. He has buried 61 birdies and two eagles.

Cheung collected academic all-Sooner Athletic Conference and CoSIDA academic all-American nods as a sophomore.

The men's at-large team includes student-athletes from fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.

Academic all-district selections gain consideration for academic all-American. To be eligible for academic all-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

Since the program's inception in 1952, the College Sports Information Directors of America has bestowed academic all-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
