CROMWELL, Connecticut, June 23, 2012 (AFP) - Jacobson had completed a four-under par 66 second round on Friday at the $6 million event to stand atop the leaderboard on nine-under 131 after 36 holes before storms halted play with 77 golfers on the course at TPC River Highlands.
Play concluded just after noon with Colombia's Camilo Villegas and Americans J.B. Holmes and Will Claxton sharing second on 132 with Australian Stuart Appleby and Americans Blake Adams and Roland Thatcher another stroke adrift.
Each man in the trio on 132 was forced to finish on Saturday while the group on 133 all made it into the clubhouse on Friday before play was stopped.
Holmes completed an eight-under 62 on Saturday. He fired five birdies on the front nine and answered his lone bogey, at the par-3 11th, with back-to-back birdies on the next two holes and two more at the 15th and 17th.
Villegas completed a bogey-free 64 that included a run of three birdies in a row starting at the par-5 13th.
Claxton fired a 67 that included an eagle at the par-4 15th.
Jacobson could match Phil Mickelson from 2001 and 2002 as the only players to defend a title in the event's 60-year history.
