In the boys’ division, Lam opened up with consecutive rounds of 79 before ending with an 81 to finish in 29th, while the in-form Tam sandwiched an impressive 70 with 78 and 75 to earn a share of 17th spot in the girls’ division. Their combined scores meant that Hong Kong finished the team competition in 23rd place.
Nanjing 2014 is the first time since 1908 golf has been included in Olympic competition and was an opportunity for young golfers from all over the world to participate in this event two years before golf is reintroduced into the Summer Olympic Games in Rio in 2016.
