Miguel Angel Jimenez may have found that ’50 has come quickly but he sees no need to stop doing something he relishes

April’s Greater Gwinnett Championship followed by another win in this January’s Mitsubishi Electric Championship. It’s little wonder that when we meet up this January he is smiling as broadly as he had been when we parted company last time.

His limited senior outings so far, and a pretty full European Tour schedule, give a clue as to where his immediate future lies. But for how long does he intend to keep competing with players some of whom weren’t alive when he claimed his first tour title in Belgium in 1992? “Well, as long as I’m playing well and still competitive enough to win,” he grins. “As soon as you’re not competitive enough to win, it’s time to go,” he grimaces, pulling his hand across his neck and making a guillotine noise.
