CENTRAL BBQ
A quick hop back to downtown and lunch at the award winning Central BBQ, consistently voted the #1 barbeque restaurant in Memphis. We were greeted by owner Roger Sapp, who had the foresight to jettison a career in accounting to create the best barbeque food in what was at the time a very rundown part of town. It takes the best part of two days to slowly create the ribs and pulled pork for which the restaurant is famous, and there are now three locations in the chain. Add in a dozen of so local microbrews and it’s easy to see why Memphians flock to this place.
