In the Esprito Santo Trophy, the women's equivalent championship held the week before,
Hong Kong placed 41st of the 52 participating countries. Stephanie Ho found the conditions to her liking as she recorded a solid 13-over-par effort over the four rounds, while fellow teammates Tiffany Chan and Michelle Cheung, who was making her debut at the event, also played well from tee to green, but struggled a little on the firm greens.
As expected, Korea blew away the field with a brilliant 30-under-par total, 17 shots ahead of the United States who placed second.
"The girls – who again made up one of the youngest teams in the competition – did well, especially Stephanie who was solid throughout," said Schadewitz. "And it was a great learning experience for Michelle, who recognized that as far as ball- striking goes, she isn't far behind many of the other girls in the competition. It helped with her confidence going into the Asian Games. – A.J.
