Both Shinichi and Terrence showed a great deal of maturity on this trip. Both were illegible for the World Juniors because they'd already turned 18 (the age limit of that event is 17) but they performed extremely well in the events they were able to play. They're both very disciplined in their practice, their fitness and their diet and are very determined to succeed. The focus they displayed was very impressive, so it's not surprising to see them do very well.
Another player who handled himself very well was Michael Regan Wong. MRW, as I like to call him, is only 14 but approaches the game very well. Very little seems to faze him and he put in two very good showings on the tour – top 10 finishes at the San Diego Junior Masters and the Odyssey World Junior Golf Championship. We've worked together on increasing his swing speed and he's now hitting the ball further, which is a great advantage.
The last week of the tour was spent at Carlton Oaks (venue for the San Diego Junior Masters) where we held a training camp and focused a lot on the short game. It was a nice way for the players to wind down the tour and set themselves up for what is going to be a busy schedule of tournaments from September onwards. I, like the players themselves, am expecting good things.
