HAIKOU, 13 Mar 2017, (HK Golfer News Wire) - If the incentive of a trip-of-a-lifetime to one of the premier junior events in the world wasn’t enough, competitors in the 54-hole stroke-play event on March 17-19 will also be mixing with some of the world’s top female golfers, with the World Ladies Championship taking place at Mission Hills Haikou at the same time.
Juniors aged nine to 17 from both China and overseas will be competing on the highly-acclaimed Lava Fields Course at Mission Hills Haikou, one of ten public courses at what is accredited as the largest public golf facility in the world. The winners of each age division – three boys and three girls – will receive free entry into the IJGA World Stars of Junior Golf Championship in Las Vegas this July, a tournament ranked by The R&A, NJGS, Golfweek and recognised by the AJGA with performance stars.
Away from the tournament, competitors will have the chance to watch the excitement of the sixth World Ladies Championship unfold on the neighbouring Blackstone Course, voted Best Course in Asia. The juniors will also attend clinics and photo sessions with the famous faces from the Ladies European Tour, the Korea LPGA Tour and the China LPGA Tour.
Founded by Mission Hills back in 2012, the list of World Ladies Championship winners includes So Yeon Ryu from Korea (2015), Olympic gold medallist Inbee Park, also from Korea (2014), Norway’s Suzann Pettersen (2013) and home favourite Shanshan Feng of China (2012) – winners of 11 Majors between them.
