HONG KONG, 21 Aug 2015, (HK Golfer News Wire) - An international field of more than 80 golfers will tee off on Fanling’s New Course on 22 September and compete over four rounds for the 2015 Men’s Amateur title. Supported by HKGA partners including HSBC and Mercedes-Benz, this historic championship was inaugurated in 1931 and has been played annually ever since, stopping only for the Second World War between 1943 and 1946.

The Hong Kong Men’s Open Amateur champion is traditionally invited to play in the Hong Kong Open, the city’s oldest professional sporting event. Tri-sanctioned by the HKGA, the European Tour and the Asian Tour, this year’s Open will take place on October 22-25 at Fanling and, now in its 57th year, will be headlined by golfing superstars Dustin Johnson and Justin Rose.

Last year’s Open Amateur Championship was played at Discovery Bay Golf Club and saw Hong Kong players claim the top three spots. Michael Regan Wong triumphed in a one-shot victory over Isaac Lam with Shinichi Mizuno in third place.

Further details and entry forms for the 2015 Hong Kong Men’s Open Amateur Championship at Hong Kong Golf Club on September 22-25 are available on the official HKGA website at www.hkga.com
