HONG KONG, 17 March 2016, (HK Golfer News Wire ) - “The Staunton Trophy was inaugurated in 2010 to foster relations between junior golfers from Hong Kong and southern China so it was good to see another exciting finish to a match played in good spirit,” commented past Hong Kong Golf Association President, Hugh de Lacy Staunton, after whom the trophy is named. “Our thanks to the GDGA and Mission Hills for their hospitality and our supporters, including HSBC, Mercedes-Benz, Le Coq Sportif and Esprit Holdings, who make these opportunities possible for Hong Kong juniors.”
Played on the Ozaki Course at Mission Hills, Guangdong raced to a three point lead in the four-ball matches on day one but, after the foursomes were cancelled due to bad weather, the 12 singles matches on day two were evenly matched, finishing 6 points a-piece. The final result was 10.5 to 7.5 to Guangdong.
