MAUI, Hawaii, Jan 5, 2013 (AFP) - Play never got started on Saturday, and after a delay of almost three hours officials opted to call it off for the day.
The postponement followed the disruption of Friday's first round, which was called off with six of the 30 entrants still to tee off because of high wind and rain.
The tournament at the Plantation Course at Kapalua has been cut to 54 holes.
Officials hope to play 36 holes on Sunday, then complete the tournament on Monday -- the original day planned for a fourth round.
"Went out there this morning about 6:30 am. I dropped a ball on the 10th green, on the back of the green just dropped it and it rolled off 20 yards off the front of the green," said Slugger White, the PGA Tour's vice president of rules and operations.
"We did have balls that were going uphill on 10 a foot and a half."
