Former U.S. tennis star John McEnroe with Greg Kinnear

What has been your best ever round?

At Bel Air I once had a 72. I've also had a hole in one there. Hole #13, 200 yards - the luckiest shot ever!

Handicap?

My handicap is 9, but the 72 was back "PK" - Pre-Kids! It definitely jumped up quite a bit, I was a 5 at one point and now I'm more like a 9 or 10.

Would you say Bel Air is your favourite course?

You know, you always have an affinity for your own course and your own club. I like the guys at our course so that ranks right up at the top for me. But you know, outside of that it's probably for me Cypress Point. I've only played it a couple of times. That's quite breathtaking and challenging and incredible. It just seems like something very special. Although I've never played Augusta, so...

What would you say is the strongest part of your game?

Strongest part is probably that I hit a pretty good drive. And, you know, my irons, my iron play is generally pretty good. It's my 100 yards in and putting which is always my struggle and you know, it's funny, I played today with Steve Nicklaus (son of Jack) and I was asking about his dad, and I said, "has he switched technology? Has he moved around putters and stuff?" And he said, "No. He keeps the same thing year in and year out." And I was like, "Oh, that's interesting. So, why do you think that is?" And he said, "it's like acting. You either got it or you don't!" And I was like, "okay, well I definitely don't have it then!"

Tiger has used the same Scotty Cameron putter for almost his entire career...

Yeah. It's a weird thing. For those guys to be able to just putt like that... I'm fascinated by putting but I struggle with it. I'm not good. Anyone in HK Golfer who has putting tips, I'm open to it. Please open the field wide up!
