Lahiri has repaid that faith in the Tour with his eye-catching performances worldwide.  He has also credited the Tour as being ‘instrumental in his career.

He said: “The Tour has a rewarding structure. If you can keep your card and break into the top-30, you can play in the best events around Asia.

“There are so many fantastic events with great fields, world ranking points and prize money on offer. There are not many Tours in the world that give you that opportunity and that’s what I’ve really benefitted from in the past eight years,” he continues.

Intimidation used to be the byword for Asian golf.

But not anymore for the likes of Lahiri, Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee and Kiradech Aphibarnrat have now mastered the grammar of golf.

The dynamic Thai duo of Thongchai and Kiradech have sparked massive interest in golf back in the kingdom with their exploits around the world.

Big-hitting Kiradech, who won the 2013 Asian Tour Order of Merit, knows that each victory worldwide will, show the world that people from Thailand can do well on the world stage and can also be a powerhouse in golf.

As the only player to win three Asian Tour Order of Merit crowns, Thongchai also knows all about that burning desire to be the best.

The Olympics will now present him with the perfect platform to do that.

“My goal has always been to win whenever I compete. I always give my best. If I cannot win, never mind, it’s okay, I try again. What’s important is I never give up,” says the veteran Thai star.
