Hong Kong Solid at Nomura Cup

Hong Kong finished in a respectable 11th place at the 27th Asia-Pacific Amateur Golf Team Championship, otherwise known as the Nomura Cup, which was held at Yas Links in Abu Dhabi last month

Out of a total of 27 participating teams, the Hong Kong side - represented by Shinichi Mizuno, Yue Yin-ho, Oliver Roberts and Leon D'Souza, and accompanied by National Coach Brad Schadewitz and non-playing Captain Rob Keys - ended the prestigious event with a four round total of 13-over-par 877.

Japan ended a 26-year wait for victory by winning the team event on countback from Chinese Taipei after the two sides both finished on 22-under.

Jin Cheng, who won the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship at Clearwater Bay at the beginning of October, continued his fine form to scoop the individual title with a four-round of 13-under 275.

Mizuno proved to be Hong Kong's best performing player - his four-over score earning him a share of 29th in the individual standings.

Mizuno's teammate, the long-hitting Oliver Roberts, shot the lowest round for his team, with a fine 69 on the third day.
