Australia's Kevin Yuan held off the challenge of local talent Jackie Chan to win the overall boys' division at the MacGregor Hong Kong Junior Open Championship at a windy Discovery Bay Golf Club in mid-August.
Fifteen-year-old Yuan, a two-handicapper from New South Wales, finished on a 27-hole total of two-over-par following the curtailed final round, which was reduced to just nine holes following the effects of Typhoon Kai Tak which passed to the south of Hong Kong the night before. Ever-improving South Island School student Chan, 17, placed second, three strokes back, while Thailand's Nitithorn Thippong finished a further shot adrift in third.
In the girls' division, reigning junior world champion Benyapa Niphatsophon, also from Thailand, showed her class with a comfortable three-stroke win from compatriot Kanyalak Preedasuttijit in second. Tiana Gwenn Lau was Hong Kong's leading contender, snatching third spot on a difficult day for scoring.
